California Artist Works With Streamwood High School Students
Streamwood High School recently brought in renowned artist Carly Castillion to work with their art students. Castillon graduated from the Pasadena Art Center College of Design in illustration and has produced works for numerous children's books, the Grammy's, the Wall Street Journal, Golf Magazine, New York's Village Voice, and several other publications. Her work is on display in multiple galleries across the United States and can be viewed online at www.gallerycc.com.
While at the high school, Castillon spent six periods a day sharing her experiences with students, encouraging them to follow their interests, seek scholarships, and funding to continue their education just as she did. She shared her expertise with them and taught students to work with light and shadows as well as considering art as a career. “I just learned I love teaching,” she said. And students just learned first hand that dreams can come true.
